Shark Bait has an extensive backpacking and hiking program! Troop members can start with the basics of hiking and backpacking and eventually build up to long-term backpacking trips with the troop!
Girl Scouts can run for election within the troop and gain leadership experience as Patrol Leaders, Troop Ambassadors for events, and potentially even become President or Vice President of Shark Bait!
Our leaders are very familiar with the requirements and processes of earning Gold and Silver Awards. They help guide troop members on the path to earning these prestigious awards!
Shark Bait is a multi-level legacy troop of Girl Scouts including Cadettes (6th to 8th grade), Seniors (9th and 10th grade) and Ambassadors (11th and 12th grade). We are based in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Each year we have between 60-75 Girl Scouts registered from around the Los Angeles South Bay Area. In our troop, Cadettes are lovingly called “Chum” and Seniors and Ambassadors are called “Sharks”. Shark Bait is led by a leadership team made of girls and voted by the girls. The adult leaders, aka “Anchors”, supervise the troop’s events and programming. We offer year-round programming and run multiple large events each year.
Shark Bait requires participants to fulfill certain guidelines in order to remain members of the troop. If you are interested in joining our troop, you should take a look at our expectations!
Feel free to message us if you have any questions or are interested in joining our troop! If you are a community member looking for volunteers for an event, you can also message us to see if Shark Bait is able to assist with your event.
